Three Day Rigging for the Entertainment Industry
From January 2008, UK Rigging will be administering the Total Training Three Day Rigging for the Entertainment Industry Course.
The course has been a course run since 1998 both in the UK and overseas. There have been more than 300 three day courses. The course allows participants to obtain the benefit of training in a controlled environment.
The course is both practical and theoretical and includes the responsibilities of individuals, the safe use of typical equipment and techniques involved in lifting and rigging safely in the entertainment industry.
Course Outline
- The law and safety legislation including
Risk assessment
PUWER and LOLER 1998
The Work at Height Regulations 2005
- Principles of lifting and safe systems of work
- Basic rigging with steels, roundslings, chain slings and shackles
- Slinging and bridles
- Using trusses
- Rigging and operating chain motors
- Work at height using PPE training
- Pre use checks to lifting equipment and PPE
Each attendee will receive:
- Course notes and additional information
- A numbered certificate of attendance relating to the syllabus
On completion candidates will have:
- An appreciation of their legal duties
- A basic knowledge of how to use equipment safely, slinging and lifting operations
- An understanding of the principles of working at height
Suitable for:
This course is suitable for novices and as a refresher course for the more experienced riggers.
We provide everything required except work clothes and footwear, however if you have your own PPE, feel free to bring it along to use if we approve it is suitable.
Safety footwear is often inappropriate when working at height; trainers or similar are preferred.
The practical sessions can involve work at height up to 5 metres.
Student to trainer ratio is 6:1 maximum for courses at UK Rigging Training and Assessment Centre.
